XHP 750.S motor bogs out before reaching pressure...

by Les Saunders
(Kenya)

We have an IR rotary screw compressor XHP 750.S. Operating pressure 300psi Powered by a Cat Diesel engine, running a drilling rig in Kenya drilling charitable boreholes.

The engine starts and runs fine when air is uploaded the pressure reaches 140psi then the engine stalls and the blow down valve vents the tank.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Competent compressor engineers are hard to find here

"bogs out"

I'm thinking blowdown is a result, rather than a symptom, of engine shutdown.

Has anything changed in the day or so since this started?

What have you checked? Filters, fluids, hoses...
