Shuts off after 130psi then can’t start compressor?

Shuts off after 130psi is then it can’t start and hard to pull the starter pull rope on a Briggs and Stratton engine on an air compressor,

I pull on the starter rope It runs for about 5 minuets at about 120-150 psi. Then it shuts off. The max psi load on the compressor is 175 psi. I go to try start it again it has a hard time to pull like get too much compression. I pull the rope about 20 times and still doesn’t want to start. I even try emptying the air. Still can’t start. Why is that?

Compressor won't start
by: Doug in s.d.ca

Once you get it running, and the pressure is going up, does the engine just cut off, or does it lug down and quit?

Have you checked the air and fuel filters on the engine? Is the gas fresh?

After you dump the air, is it still hard to pull, or just won't start?

And what make/model is this?

Has it worked for you in the past? When?
