ridgid electric air compressor getting too hot

i have a ridgid elctric air compressor ol50145mw it starts up gets almost to working order than suts off and it gets vevy hot fast i wait a minuet turn it on does same thing

It sounds as though your Ridgid air compressor is shutting off on thermal overload. Let it cool down completely before trying again.

Often the cause is power supply. As a comment here, tell me about the amperage of the circuit into which the air compressor is plugged, and how long the extension cord is that you are using.

If you use a power bar too, take that out of the circuit.
