Hi there, I got this air compressor (model 373551) and it has a USA plug on the end were you use 115v as where here in New Zealand we use 230v, I was just wondering do I have to change the winding around to suit 230v or do I just connect a NZ plug on the end o the appliance and crank it on.?

Chances are just changing the plug would result it ruining the motor.

If you're lucky, you have a dual voltage motor, and you can look at that to see if there is a wiring diagram.

If there is a diagram, rewire the motor to 230V and put your NZ style plug on and you should be in business.

If the motor is 115V only (just two wires coming out of the frame), then you'll want to replace it.

(You might be able to use a big step-down transformer, but unless you have one laying around it'll likely be cheaper to replace the motor and maybe see if you can sell it on ebay or something.)
