Hi Bill,

I did put a post with pictures of an "odd" air compressor. I have been checking daily. Would a reward of like $100.00 be acceptable? Don't want to break any rules.

identifying an air compressor

Roger, I see what you are saying about the round crankcase. I did check out Harbor Freight and Rural King. I went through every single brand on this website too. Didn't check out Pep Boys, I may do that. I do appreciate input on this. The things that stand out most to me on this one is the position of the tank and the fact that there is not a rod between the wheels like every one I see. I will check out Pep-Boys and others like them. Thanks again.

Chinese most likely

This is as close as I can find so far.

Notice the round crankcase with the fins, and the protruding oil fill port near the top. I know this is hardly definitive, but companies often use design clues across many different models.

Having said that, it is not uncommon for Chinese companies to blatantly copy products from other companies, even other Chinese ones. Also, I highly doubt this was marketed in America under a Chinese name. I would hazard a guess that it is re-badged under one or many different company's labels in the US. I am thinking they would be sold at budget outlets, or as a loss leader type of product to get people through the door. It does not look like a high-dollar item at all. If it were here in Canada I would guess it was sold by a discount tool shop like Princess Auto. In the US, maybe Harbor Freight, or a house brand tool for someone like Pep-Boys. Not to suggest that these companies would knowingly sell a dangerously defective product.

Teardown time.

If you pull the compressor apart you might find the manufacturer's name or part number on the connecting rod, or other components, and maybe be able to Google it for reference.

I have no problem with you offering a reward to help identify the compressor, though I wonder if the compressor itself new is worth that much?

The logistics of how you will know who correctly identified the compressor and how you will get payment to them is your problem.

It is site policy not to include email addresses or phone numbers in posts. You can, if you wish, use your company URL and advise prospective identifiers to access your website, and use the contact form there if you wish.

So, good luck with that.
