Porter Cable pancake air compressor keeps running.

I have a Porter Cable pancake air compressor, 150 PSI, 2.6 SCFM @ 90 PSI, 6 gallon, oil free. The compressor reaches 150 PSI and the pressure relief valve kicks out. So, I replaced the pressure switch and it didn't fix the problem. What's my next step to fix the problem?

I replaced the PRV and the compressor is working great. Thanks for the suggestion.

Porter Cable pops PRV
by: Bill

Brian, if the compressor is rated for 150 PSI, the PRV shouldn't be letting go at that pressure. There needs to be a higher cracking threshold on the PRV than the pressure level the compressor commonly cuts out at.

Is the PRV cracking open at 150 PSI? If so, it's the PRV that's likely the problem. Please advise.
