Model # 1Z945B compressor

Model # 1Z945B compressor

I found a stationary Dayton Speedaire air compressor, but the electric motor was missing. The model # is 1Z945B, which has been discontinued.

I'm trying to figure out what type and size of electric motor I need to purchase to get this compressor working.

The motor that is on it now is not the correct one.

Also someplace I can get a manifold for an air cleaner or two separate air cleaners as the foam cleaners are shot and I would like something better for the air filters.

Any help would be appreciated.

2hp

Have that one in our shop.
It is using a 2hp, 3450RPM, J56H frame size motor. Didn't measure the sheave size.

Looks like that pump runs between 700 and 995 RPM, and one page shows it needing 3HP at the higher speed.

Considering the CFM and low pressure (115PSI to 125SPI max), the 3HP seems really conservative.

Looks like a 2 Cyl version of the 3Z170
by: Neil

I have a 3Z170 and it runs very well with a 2HP 110/220 volt general purpose motor.

Since all the description of the 1Z945 list it as 2HP you should be very safe at 2HP.

You will have to do some research to find the correct speed (Usual around 1000 RPM) and get the right pulley to get that speed from your motor.
