Kobalt Regulator leaks air until pressure equals reg.

Kobalt 26 Gallon Quiet Compressor Regulator leaks air until tank pressure equals reg.

If my tank is at say 150 and I want to make the tool pressure say 90, the regulator knob will leak air until the tank pressure hits 90. Is this normal. It can take maybe 30 minutes before the tank pressure finally gets to 90. I just bought the unit a few days ago.

Thanks,

The symptoms suggest that the regulator is in backwards.

Please have a close look at it and see if there is an arrow on the regulator, and if so, is it pointing toward the coupler into which you plug your air line, or towards the tank.

If it is pointing towards the tank, empty all the air from the tank, remove the regulator, and turn it around so that the arrow is pointing to the coupler.

If there is no arrow on the regulator then either revers it to try that, or take the compressor back for a replacement.

Please let us know what you found, would you?
