Fixed Replacement Reed, moved to Inlet side.

I can only get a service kit for Kaeser to replace my reed valve and this comes in at around $150, much more than the compressor is worth.

So i need to make my own.
I've ordered some .015" shim stock, my question is will I be able to use standard HSS drills to make the holes?

Greame, the newest photo with the fixed reed valve is now live.

I did not include your other photo as it was already posted here.

Thanks for taking the time.

How I made the replacement reed
by: Graeme

I obtained some .015 shim stock, used marking blue and scribed around my good remaining reed for the outline. I roughed out the shape with snips and finished it using fine files followed by fine wet and dry abrasive paper to round all the edges.
The old reed was used as a drill template for the holes.

The only small concern I have is the shim stock is softer than the original reed material, but this actually may be advantageous. Only time will tell.

I'd love to post some photos but don't see the option here.

Made and installed a new reed.
by: Graeme

The fasteners are interference fit studs with a head that I was able to pull out.
I made a new reed and reused the studs to install it.
Compressor works very well, the tank gets up to and holds 4bar.
Very happy.

Drills for valve plate?
by: Doug in s.d.ca.

I'd think so, for both the stock and to drill out the rivets, if that's what they are.

Might might need to tap for screws on the plate.
