Joy tow behind compressor leaking oil

Joy tow behind compressor with an International Harvester c-196 gas engine

The compressor is leaking oil around an engine control actuator which I believe may be part of the unloader.

It is located below the air intake for the compressor. It pushes against a plate that has rods connected to it going the carburetor of the engine.

We have no manuals and very little knowledge of this compressor. Any help would be appreciated.

Also the air intake is full of oil, I am sure that is not right. Any ideas will help.

Oil in the control lines shows your separator is not working properly. Change it out.

You're right about the oil in the filter.

I don't have specific knowledge of this compressor, however, assuming it's a screw, here're some things you may be able to check.

There is probably an "oil stop" valve in the line from the oil filter on or near the screw. It's a spring loaded check valve to keep oil out of the screw when it's not making air.

Likewise, there's a check valve in the airline to the oil sump that also may have a connection to the oil stop valve.

Then there's the inlet valve, which really should not have to deal with the oil because of the check valves, but if the check valves are stuck or slow, could allow the oil back into the air filter.

Is the thing otherwise more or less working?
