Snap On P3120H1-epc

I have a portable snap-on compressor very similar to the one pictured above. model P3120H1-epc. about 10 years old but rarely used.

It has 2 caps on top between the cylinder heads. One soft rubber, the other a screw type. Which of these stores the lubricant, how much, and what type?

Oil type for P3120H1-epc
by: Bill

I found an image which I uploaded that says it is compressor P3120H1-epc. I hope this bears a similarity to yours.

The oil is "stored" in the sump at the bottom of the pump. To the bottom left of the image I see what appears to be a sight glass for you to determine the oil level in the sump. Typically the sump is considered full when the oil level is at the center of the dot in the center of the sight glass. Do not overfill.

As to which of the "caps" is the port for the oil, I'd need to pull the covers to have a look. I suspect that the threaded cap is the oil fill but cannot be sure.

As to what oil type, that's covered in detail on the pages on this site about air compressor oil. Please have a review. That page is found under compressor oil on the sitemap page.
