Husky H1820F 20 gal compressor:

The unit compresses just fine but the outlet pressure gauge will only go up to between 30 and 40 lbs but no more.

I fixed my own problem
by: Roy

I submitted this particular problem and reviewed the troubleshooting tips. All, of which, pointed to the regulator.

Again, I had full pressure on the tank gauge but the outlet gauge would only climb to about 40 or 50 lbs and no further.

The adjustment knob was not the problem as I could turn it in or out without making any difference.

Here's what I did to fix it:

I took off the regulator adjustment knob assembly that is held onto the regulator by one large nut. This exposed the "internals" of the regulator. The "internals" were, well, quite simple in nature consisting of one fairly thick coiled spring with a small square rubber stopper (for lack of a better word). This rubber stopper looks like it presses against the small nipple that you see on the adjustment knob assembly when removed as described above. I cleaned the rubber stopper and the surrounding area of the regulator knob nipple, put it back together, fired up the compressor and, voila, everything worked like a charm.

I was getting ready to buy a new regulator but a little investigative research (yes, I'm naturally inquisitive on how things work and why they fail) fixed the problem.

I hope this helps someone should they run into the same problem.

Husky H1820F outlet pressure

Roy, I think if you read the troubleshooting page about no air out of hose, which essentially covers the issue your compressor has, you'll find the answer.
