20 PSI plateau
by: Anonymous

My 8 gal Husky wouldn't go over 20 PSI and I did some troubleshooting. Since it allows air in the tank at all, up to 20 PSI,l and doesn't leak after you shut it off, indicates that the check valve is fine. I'm not sure if it's the ONLY problem but I took the head off and, not the actual reed that lays across the top of the cylinder, but a thin horse shoe shaped reed type valve on the compression valve plate had snapped off. Replacing that for now.

Compressor only runs for min then dies out
by: Bill

While I share your frustration, it seems to me that your air compressor motor may be going off on thermal overload.

That could be caused by using a too small or too long extension cord, plugging the compressor into a socket with a too low an amperage breaker, a run capacitor may have failed... you don't indicate how old your compressor is, just that you don't use it often.

I am happy to post your complaint for you but it might be worthwhile figuring out if the issue has to do with your power supply rather than the compressor, as if it is the power supply, then any brand of comparably sized air compressor will give you the same issue.

Good luck.
