My upright craftsman 15 gallon compressor was not filling and I found the filler tube was broken at the tank coupler where it connects to the check valve.
I ordered a new filler tube and coupler but I do not understand how proper mating is done with this design.
I expected the tube would have a flange at the end which the coupler would catch and create a good mate as it is threaded into the check valve – like a gas fitting. Instead, the filler tube is straight and just fits through the coupler where it just can slide in and out.
Do I apply a sealant – or do the 2 dissimilar metals form a bond when heat is generated during operation – I know it sound a bit far fetched…?? Appreciate any help?
