I have a grimmer schmidt 185DR that seems to pump air good but when i shut it down motor off i can hear oil and air bubbling like sound for a bit then oil starts pouring out air cleaner intake.

It seems to be filling up air intake tube through black hose in pic any ideas what i should check?

Grimmer Schmidt 185 DR intake unloader

I don't know if you've got this, but you could download at least a "close" parts manual from

http://www.chicagopnematic.com/usen/whatwedo/portablecompressors/grimmerschmidt/grimmerschmidtmanuals/?paging=0

I think that is your problem, although there may still be a check valve somewhere that's not working right.

It's the thing with the small orifice on the air-end either sticking somewhat open, or leaking, allowing separator tank pressure to force oil back thru there.

Doug’s question which black hose
by: Tige

The black tube that’s off on one end in pictures has no check valve.

It goes from intake neck body on pump to intake tube between filter and intake .

There is a valve with two other black tubes lower down on the left side that I had checked and it seems to work fine.

"There's no check valve on the black hose that I checked."

Which one would that be?

No check valve Grimmer Schmidt 185 DR
by: Tige

There's no check valve on the black hose that I checked.

Should have added I bought this compressor from a guy that never ran it so I wonder if something is missing or not hooked up right?

It looks like to me that fitting should have a check valve some where back...they can stick open.

Maybe check that?
