Glue pump gasket in?

by Sam

Won't build pressure past 60PSI.

Took compressor apart first time and found gasket blown out between reed valve chambers.

Made a gasket and it worked fine for about 2 hours.

Then started doing same thing again. Think it has blown gasket again. Wondering if I should glue the new one in place and if so what would work best.

Cereal box gasket

Sure, you're free to try anything you like. And it might work.

The problem with these may be improper head torque. Sometimes you can find specs, sometimes not. So, what compressor do you have?

Compressor Pump Gasket
by: mykle

i have had blown gasket a few times and making one was easy. but i used thick gasket paper ( only had one kind) and it blew again after a while. my main issue was the read valve and the proper way to place it. i had to remove the head and re position the valve several time until i got it the right way around.

Is there a repair manual? that would help.

Is there a proper thickness for the paper gasket or can i use cereal box next time?

head gaskets ( ?)
by: Doug in

It could be a cracked or warped head or plate, but since you got it to work for a while, glueing sounds like a reasonable thing to try.

Use whatever they have at the local auto parts store for sealing head gaskets - you need the high temp stuff.

Let us know how it goes, please.

Good luck.
