Gas motor for a binks 33-516 compressor ?

by Chris Powell

I have a binks 33-516 air compressor that the electric motor has went bad on.

I was going to buy a gas motor that I could use as a portable compressor but I don't know what the specs is and need to know what size Hp I need and what speed the motor will need to be?

I would appreciate any help you could give me if you can. Thanks

Has no motor - bummer!

Again, a pic or two might help.

I don't find anything specific to this pump, other than someone was selling one a while back with a 20HP motor, so the 1150 Briggs and Stratton is in the ballpark.

If there's a sheave on the pump, given the B&S 3800 RPM, I'd start with about a quarter of its diameter for a bit less than 1000RPM at the pump.

Depending on the application, you'll want or need some way to have the unloader drop the engine RPM at cut off, or at least reduce the engine load.

Have fun, and good luck.

Has no motor

The binks air compressor I've got hasn't got a motor on it. I got it from a friend and he has no idea what size motor it had on it either. It's a 33-516 pump and looks like a 40 gallon tank. I was just looking at putting a gas motor on it but I don't know what rpm or hp I'd need to get. I'm thinking a bout a 1150 Briggs and Stratton

Not sure what's on it now -

The place to start is with the specs on the present motor - HP and RPM
