Curtis compressor

Curtis compressor

I have air coming out of my Breather Port on my Curtis Toledo air compressor. It is a Curtis Toledo, C79. Serial # 09091005 It seems to build up air pressure but won"t hold it as it shoots out of the breather. Could you tell me what the problem is? I have attached a picture of the breather the air is coming from.

Thanks, Donnie

Curtis compressor symptoms weird.
by: Doug in s.d.ca.

This doesn't seem possible without there being multiple failures -

Check valve (it has one, yeah?)

Head valves

Bad rings

Easiest to check is check valve.

Next remove intercooler and see if you have "suction" on the intakes while turning the pump manually.

How old is it, anyway?

Does it get to 175psi cutoff?

Good luck.
