Craftsman motor stops after a few seconds

When I turn on my craftsman 150 max PSI air compressor, model 919-16523, it stops after just a few seconds. I replaced the switch/unloader valve and it still does the same thing. Any ideas?

You'll need to use a multi-meter and probe the motor side of the pressure switch.

I replaced the switch along with the unloader valve (all in one) so I assume the new one is good. How do I check to see if the power is passing through?

The question I have, Nelson, is the condition of the pressure switch when the Craftsman compressor stops.

Can you pull the cover of the pressure switch, and using a meter, determine if power is passing through the switch to the motor side, even though the motor has stopped.

If so, then I would be checking the capacitors on the motor next.

See the page on how to check your compressor motor capacitors on this site.
