Compressor won't work

Hello Bill,

I have a 1986 electric duel power (115/220) Emglo compressor.

It was working fine 2 weeks ago. I went to use it today and it will not run, it will not turn the pump.

I removed the drive belt and plugged the power in and the motor run's ( counter clockwise) and you can turn the pump over by hand.

Just seams like there not enough to drive the pump.

Well I hope that you can help me out. Oh is the motor and pump supposed to turn counter clockwise?

Thank You,

Will

First - A model number might be helpful.

CCW is most common, but not universal.

What does the thing sound like with the belt hooked up and you turn it on? Does it turn at all? Buzz or hum?

Anyway, if you're lucky, you just have a bad capacitor or maybe two.

You can look up how to test, or just go here:

Let us know, and good luck.
