Compressor very slow to recover to desired PSI

Lower setting (say 40 PSI or so) to run spray gun. Sprays OK first spray then less and less pressure at gun next few sprays. Must wait 5 to 10 seconds for it to rebuild pressure then same issue. Fills and shuts off and on correctly.

slow recovery

If I understand what you wrote, then I suspect your regulator may be sick.

If the tank pressure is say 50PSI or more, and the regulator is set to 40 and you trigger the gun, the pressure should stay at 40 (maybe with a small dip so fast you miss it if you blink). If the pressure drops while the tank is still 5PSI or so above the set pressure.

If it's gradually building up so you can watch it, try a new regulator.

Compressor very slow to recover

Is this a new issue, as in, the air compressor worked fine before?

If so, see the troubleshooting page about air compressors that don't build pressure any more.

If not a new issue, what is make and model of your air compressor?

What is the flow and pressure demand of the spray paint equipment you are using?

Please provide details as a comment here.
