Coleman Proforce Tripping thermal reset

by Paul

Hello, I have a Coleman Proforce 4.5 hp compressor.

I switched it to run on 220 instead of the 110.

It will start and run for about 10 - 15 seconds and them trips the thermal reset and the 15 amp breaker.

I wired the motor to the diagram and installed the 30 amp 220 plug. Any ideas?

I'm puzzled too

Maybe Paul misstated what he has.

Unless the panel with the 15A breaker is being fed by an unbalanced 220 source, he needs two breakers.

Paul, please check that you have 220 *across* the wires that feed the motor.

Coleman thermal reset and the 15 amp breaker.
by: Bill

Paul, please clarify you questions for our visitors and helpers, but I suspect, mostly for me!

The 220 volt motor is being powered by a 15 amp breaker at the panel you say?

If so, where does the 30 amp 220 plug come into play?

I'm a bit confused.

Thanks.
