Champion Pneumatic Machinery P5897A filter element

I just bought this compessor and am trying to find out about it. I can't find anything online. The compressor is a home built unit on a 26 gallon tank.

Although dirty, I think it was well maintained. It just had a recent oil change.

I've included a pic of the what I believe are the filters. Homemade foam filters were cut and placed above the felt filters. I thoroughly cleaned them until the water ran clear. There was quite a bit of dust etc embedded in them.

Please let me know anything and everything you know or can find out about this particular - seeming extremely well-built - compressor. I am hoping to find specifications too.

I also have a serial number if that's helpful.

Thanks in advance!

A couple of leads...
by: Anonymous

I found a couple of sites with some info. Will search the model number (20CV20P) which looks like mine but still too soon to say.

Thank you - Champion P5897A

Thank you both very much. A manual would be very helpful. I am disappointed - though not totally surprised - to hear that parts are unavailable.I will post up the serial number this evening. I'm just guess that the number I posted is actually the model number. Thanks again!

Champion 5897A pump
by: ICS

That is an oldie but a goodie, if it was well maintained. You really can't find parts for those anymore. champion stopped making them about 20 or 30 years ago.

However, you can go to the hardware store, or to Michael's and cut your own felt filters. I don't think you can get anything for it, but if you give me the model and serial number off the pump, I might be able to find a manual for it.

(We are sincerely appreciative of the information that Jake and ICS provides to all on this site. Complete contact information for him is located in the state of Missouri section on this page: - Moderator)
