Can't get the right PSI on a TC-20T

hi, I bought a tc-20t compressor and I can't get the right psi.

It seems that it can only fill when on full psi (around 80) because when I turn down the knob to lower the psi the knob is not enough tight and the air seems to get out by the knob.

Also is it normal that even if I don't use it it start again to fill it up after some time ?

Thanks

TC-20T regulator
by: Doug in s.d.ca

Working Pressure: 15-45 psi; Auto Stop: at 57 psi; Auto Start: at 43 psi
Maximum Pressure: Factory preset at 57 psi, without preset control 85 psi

You get 80psi out of it? Sounds like the internal pressure switch is broken.

Also, it sounds like the regulator is broken - is there a constant leak around the knob?

If this is new, return it. If used, it likely needs a pressure switch and regulator.
