husky 8 gallon portable air compressor

I have the 8 gallon portable 8 gallon husky air compressor, it’s turning on around 100psi. Was hoping to have it kick on around 85psi. It cycles a lot and I’m just blowing water out of cracks of my car.

Thanks Lee

It is not necessary to "turn down" the pressure switch.

Your air compressor is equipped with a regulator, that will, if adjusted properly, enable you to set the pressure at the tool end to suit the tool and the job being done.

If you are not comfortable with adjusting the regulator, may I suggest my $1.99 ebook about the regulator which will answer all, I expect, your questions about what the are and what they do. It's linked from the right nav bar on the site.

Let us know how it turned out, will you?

From the picture you provide (thank you for that) it would appear as though this compressor has what I call a "mini" pressure switch, one that's plugged right into the tank under the cover.

Typically these kinds of pressure switches are not user adjustable.

You can, with an empty tank and compressor off, remove the existing pressure switch a try to find a replacement with the pressure range you prefer.

Just DO NOT acquire a switch with a higher pressure rating as you'll likely burn up your compressor.

I was unable to find the specs for this compressor so I don't know what the normal cut in and cut out is.

However, if you dial the pressure on the regulator down to the lowest level that will still blow the water out, then the compressor air charge will last longer, and the compressor will not run as often. Therefore, no need to change the pressure switch at all, unless I'm missing something.
