I bought a campbell hausfeld wl611200aj - just bought it - am I ripped off

The motor kicks on builds air to 60 psi quickly then keeps running but won't build anymore pressure.

I hope I didn't get ripped off. I noticed after I got it home and hoping its an easy fix.
_______________
Joshua, there are a number of common reasons why an air compressor will run, build air pressure to a level, and then stop building pressure while the air compressor keeps running.

Valve and gasket failures seem to be the most frequent reason. See the sitemap page, look under troubleshooting, and see the pages about why air compressors run and do not build pressure for some tips.

if you purchased this Campbell Hausfeld air compressor new, then take it back and get a new one.

If you bought it used, and it was implied that the compressor was OK, then I think you have been taken, my friend. I am sorry about that.

Good luck,

Bill

Issue is with power, not compressor
by: Kato Moto

Hello all, I offer to sell a 20 gallon 15 amp HF Chicago air compressor for a neighbor. I tested it it ran fine at his house at demonstration at my house for a potential buyer the compressor would not power on properly the motor sound like it's eased up it wouldn't Pump Air wouldn't compress woudn't cycle, it just kind of fluttered and died.

I have a little understanding of electricity and realized the 15 amp circuit could not provide adequate current because I had other appliances on that circuit, so I ran the power line to the 15 amp outlet at the garbage disposal and the compressor ran fine, no issues, and sold the compressor.

This may be a factor if your compressor is sputtering and not working properly; it's not getting the full amount of power it needs.

Good luck hope this helps someone.

campbell Hausfeld 30 gal 6.25hp model WL611201AJ wont restart above 40 psi

My Campbell Haufeld 30 gal 6.25hp model WL611201AJ runs when tank is empty but wont restart when at restart pressure.

Motor makes a couple of slow turns then kicks out breaker.

Discovered this happens when pressure is above 40 psi. I have already replace the unloader and one of the capacitors (grey one) which did not work. Any idea's???

Good that you replaced the unloader valve, if it was not working.

If you are not using an extension cord or power bar, and if the power supply to the compressor is from a circuit that does not have other things pulling power when your air compressor is trying to start, and the capacitor you changed was the start capacitor and not the run cap, then I would suspect the motor itself is failing.
