I'm having a problem with the compressor blowing fuses along with shutting down my honda eb 6500 generator. Seems like its drawing too many amps.

I plugged the compressor directly into the generator (no extension cord) as soon as the plug starts to go in it immediately shuts my generator down.

I'm not an electrician and don't know much about testing capacitors and such. I'm looking for a possible cause that i may be able to handle myself. Thanks for any info on this matter.

PS i tried to upload pictures and they are too large. I have no clue how to resize them.....Sorry

It's not totally clear, but you have had this configuration working in the past, correct?

When trying to start the compressor, you should plug it in first, with the compressor run switch off. Also, on the generator you should turn the auto throttle to "off" and start the generator.

Now turn the compressor on, and compressor tries to start and what else? The compressor blows breaker at motor? and/or the generator stalls and/or the generator pops a breaker?

If the motor breaker is going off, then you almost certainly have a bad start or run cap on the compressor.

Google "photo editor" to see some web-based software to reduce your picture sizes.
