Bostitch cap2000p-of will not shut off

by Ken Miller

I have a near new bostitch cap2000p-of pancake compressor. It's a 150 PSI compressor. It builds up quickly to about 130 - 140 and will never shut off.

I never left it plugged in much longer than 7 minutes or so to see if it would ever build any higher. Doesn't seam like it will.

Sometimes if I then turn it off and back on it will not turn back on right away (even if air let out) and sometimes it will. I'm lost.

As Doug mentioned, a blown gasket in the pump head is one of a number of causes of this issue.

It's not leaking

The compressor is definitely not leaking. It holds air. It just won't shut off when it is supposed to.

This is often due to a blown head gasket.

Have you checked for leaks elsewhere? Checked the head bolts are not loose? If they are that would do it.

But if it's still under warranty, you may just want to return it.
