While my pump is filling the tank, the toggle switch in my main power line heats up, then after a few days (2or 3), it tends to melt, or burns up. I am using an 8 gauge wire, with a 30 amp. toggle switch, between the battery and the pressure switch/ if you can help me, please do, I really need it! TINA

Tina, with no information supplied about what air compressor you are using, what the Horsepower and operating voltage is, it's really hard to provide an answer.
Is the toggle switch part of the original compressor assembly, and, what is the battery for?

When I plug in my compressor sometimes it starts other times it makes a humming noise and then the circuit breaker goes.

Next time you get your compressor running, let it pressure up to cut out pressure, and listen near the pressure switch to hear if it unloads. If it does not, it could be a periodically malfunctioning unloader valve.
If the unloader works each time, then I'm guessing it's your starter capacitor or motor itself.

I have a 84ish model Devilbiss single phase 5hp.
Cut in pressure @ 120psi, cut out @ 160.
I was using the air to blow out some dust for another tool. It obviously was reaching cut in time, when it did, it ran for about 30 sec.,then cut out.
The main power switch won't reset, not sure what happens when the pressure switch goes, but nothing happening.
I pulled the main fuses for switch, tried to reset the button on the right lower corner of the box, no go.
Put the fuses back in, took the cover off, pushed the bigger buttom "Sylvania stamped on it", it stayed in, but when I pushed it again, popped out and stayed out.
Any ideas.
