Air flow for painting with an air compressor

by Jerry
(Indianapolis, IN; USA)

I have purchased a 8 gallon 1.5 HP 150 PSI Oil Free Portable Air Compressor that has a SCFM of 4.1 at 90 PSI. Can I use a gravity spray painting tool that requires 6 CFM @ 40 PSI? I am new at this and the conversions and difference in PSI figures give me pause to keep the compressor.

I appreciate the assistance. Thanks.

Jerry B.

Well Jerry, wish there was an easy answer besides, maybe.

Notes on that subject are found here:

Good luck.
