air compressor was working fine day before, now its tripping switch wen in use, installing lag bolts 5 and 6 inch in length, 1/4 to 5/16

Sure wish I could be sure, but I'm not, me not being an electrician.
The run seems pretty close to me, so if I were doing it for my compressor of your type, I would guess that 12-3 or 10-3 wire would work. If I had the bucks, I'd go 10-3 just because a larger supply is better than a smaller one.
As to the amps of the breaker, what does the motor pull? It should be on the motor I.D. plate. I would guess a 20 amp breaker, but I might default to 30?
All of you electricians out there, can you help out this person?
