Air compressor not used - that OK?

My husband died 16 months ago. He had a large industrial-type air compressor-about 6 to 8 feet tall. Will it be damaged from lack of use?

My sincere condolences.

An idle compressor shouldn't deteriorate through lack of use.

I would suggest that you get down on your hands and knees and look under the tank for a drain petcock. Open the drain and let any water in the tank to leak out, and it were me, I'd leave the drain open until such time as it was going to be used again.

Other than that, maybe cover it to keep the dusk off it.

When it's time to use again, depending on how long it has been idle, it would probably be a good idea to change the oil before starting it.
