Adding a second tank?

Just a quick question about a second tank. New compressor is a two stage that maxes out at 175 psi. Want to add a second tank that was only rated at 125 psi. Will this be a problem?

If I keep the regulator at 125 or less will this work? Or will the second tank charge up to 175 as well? Will the unloader valve adjust down to 125 without any issues? If I have to replace the unloader valve, will a smaller pilot valve work okay with a two stage system? I know it's long winded but any help would be appreciated.

Adding a second tank

It won't be particularly efficient, but if you can adjust the cut-out to 125, and change the PRV on it to 125, it would be OK.

A lot depends on your specific purpose/reason for adding the second tank.

125 PSI tank

Do NOT, under any circumstances, add a tank rated for 125 PSI to a compressor circuit that has the ability to output 175 PSI, regardless of where the regulator is set.

All air components in the same circuit must be rated for the highest pressure the circuit will ever be able to experience.
