921.153101 only builds pressure to 40#

Compressor quickly builds to 40 lbs. pressure, then holds there. Motor continues to run, but builds no more pressure.

Seems to be overheating somewhat if left to run.

Is there a blockage somewhere? Last used it two weeks ago, and worked flawlessly. Today, problems.

I have noted over the last month that if I left air in the tank without draining it, it was empty the next time I went to use it.

Today, there was 40 lbs pressure showing on the gauge before I turned it on. When it built no more pressure upon starting, I purged the air from the tank via the valve, and restarted.

Went to 40 pounds, then held.

No additional pressure could be generated. Suggestions on where to start?
