You Helped Me Too!
by: Anonymous

Hello! I have a 919.165060 and I HAD the same problem: a broken black plastic housing around those electrical connections...as if someone tried to move the unit by grabbing plastic housing...and broke it. Same situation...a screw seat (plastic) broke so the housing couldn't be screwed down, so the electrical connection inside couldn't be made...which made the unit turn over real slow for about 7 seconds then blow the breaker. I seated it with the one screw and held in place, while starting it...and PRESTO...it workie! Thank you so much for the post!!!! Cheers!!!!!

Figured it out
by: Charlie Phillip

Bill,

Finally figured it out. Since my last post, I was at a loss since I was sure one of the capacitors was faulty and they both checked good. When I put the caps back in and put together the mounting bracket, I noticed there is some sort of switch which the starting cap is wired to wasn't sitting tight against the motor since the mounting tab which holds it against the motor housing was broken. I rigged a way secure the cap mounting bracket to the motor. I started to the motor and it started with no issue and the compressor now cycles with no problem. Best I can determine, the switch in the cap mounting bracket puts the starting cap in the curcuit during start up which wasn't happening the the mounting bracket tab being broken. After many hours and a few unneeded new parts, looks like I'm back in business after taking the long way around to finding the problem. Appreciate all the help, charlie

Capacitors Check Good
by: Charlie Phillip

Good Evening,

I checked both my start and run capacitors with a capacitor checker I borrowed from work and they both check out good, right on the money. I thought for sure one of them was going to be bad and the cause for my problem. At this point, I am now out of ideas. Anything I am missing?

Charlie, then I think it's time to look at the windings in the motor. If it isn't the caps, then it has to be a motor issue, based on the information you have so ably provided.
