919.165010 only 40 psi before the motor kicks out

Bill,

This compressor will only get to about 40 psi before the motor kicks out. That said it was wired to 230 and changed back to 110. There is full power on the motor side of the pressure valve... so the motor should be getting the power even after it stops running. Help your thoughts?

It sounds like the Pressure Switch is either sticking or needs adjusting.

Take the top off the switch and there should be a bolt or screw that you can see on top off the switch with a + and - symbol on it, turn the bolt/screw in the + direction a couple of turns and start the compressor. This will now allow more pressure in the tank before it turns off.

If the compressor still turns off at 40 psi the switch is faulty and needs replacing.

If it fills to a higher pressure after adjustment you will need to find out what the working pressure shut off should be for your compressor and adjust the switch until it reaches the correct pressure.

There should be a plate/tag on the side of the motor/Tank with the correct working pressure stamped on it.

Also check to see if there is any water in the tank you can do this by rocking the tank backwards and forwards and you will hear it moving about if there is any, and drain if there is.
