6-15 not turning off

by Sean

My Jun-air 6-15 has recently decided to not turn off when it gets to pressure so it then over heats if left.

Is the PRV blowing off?
by: Bill

"it does get to 5bar pressure"

Does the tank pressure go past 5 bar?

If the tank pressure does not get to the cut out pressure of the pressure switch, the compressor will keep running, as it cannot shut off on high pressure cut out. That indicates a problem with the pump, possibly valves or gaskets.

If the pressure bypasses the normal cut out pressure, and ultimately blows off the PRV, then it's likely the pressure switch that has failed.

I cannot tell from your description which is the correct scenario for your compressor.

Hi yes that is right. Once I turn on the compressor it just keeps running.

I cannot hear any air escaping and it does get to 5bar pressure. The motor runs constantly until it over heats and then trips out.

Jun-Air 6-15 overheating
by: Bill

Sean, are you saying that the compressor runs, builds pressure in the tank, the tank pressure exceeds the normal cut out pressure, and the PRV lets go?

Please provide additional details. Thanks.
