leaking air from the tank fitting to the pressure switch at the tank fitting.

I have a 29 gal. 2 hp belt drive Central Pneumatics model # 61489 air compressor from harbor freights. It is leaking air from the fitting that connects the tank to the pressure switch.

It looks like some sort of compression fitting (not sure)But I'm trying to find out the type of fitting and thread pitch on the tank end to the pressure switch. As I do not think that this compressor has NPT fittings but I'm pretty sure it has BSPT threaded fittings. Because I took out the drain valve and its not 3/8 MNPT because the threads did not match up to 3/8 NPT.

Does anyone know what type of fitting is on the tank to the pressure gauge ?

Two things, Teddy.

Is the line to that fitting plastic? If so, remove it (tank empty, compressor off first) by pushing in on the line, pushing in on the ring around where the line enters, then pull out on the line.

If that's successful, cut off about 1/2" of the end of the line, and then reinsert it firmly. That typically stops the leak.

Now, to the leak.

If, when the compressor is off, you feel air leaking out from anywhere, and the tank has air in it, then you've got a tank check valve leak, and that's needs to be addressed next. That's covered on the troubleshooting pages on this site.

Good luck, and please let us know how it turned out.
