5hp C.H. farmhand 80 gallon not working right.

I have a Campbell Hausfeld farmhand 5hp 80 gallon compressor, I've had this for 10 years, it's not used a lot, recently I turned it on and it started fine and was pressuring up but before it finished it started sounding weird, getting slower and slower like it was struggling to continue until I turned it off before it flipped a breaker, I let it rest for 1 hour then turned the switch on and it did nothing, waited until next day and tried it again and it came on and sounded fine until near the end again and it got slower and slower until I turned it off again; any idea on what this might be????????

If this were mine, I'd look at the pages on this site about what the air compressor motor capacitors are and what they do, and how to check 'em.

That's what I'd do first.

When you checked your compressor caps, what did you find?
