Have a 5 hp 150 upright compressor which if i run for a while all of a sudden starts shutting down at 150 psi.

175 psi is turn off.

The pressure switch has a mechanical shut down arm when psi is achieved, however compressor is shutting down ahead of that arm raising to switch off.

After 30 seconds compressor fires up erratically. What should i be looking for that controls it?

Is pressure switch (only hooked up to one leg) the culprit or something else?

I think you're looking at a motor overload situation.

It blows the breaker on motor, and then resets (30s) itself. So the motor starts to turn, but it's got a tough row, perhaps because of a leaking check valve, which might have something to do with the motor overload. Or maybe not, gotta check to know.

All that based to the idea that this (nice looking) installation has been working OK for some time. A weak power supply (too small/long wires) can cause this.
