125 PSI air compressor sometimes only hits 100 PSI

I have a Sears 125lb air compressor and it has been working fine over the past 10yrs.

I recently was given a Porter & Cable nail gun and the compressor has been doing fine the 1st couple of times.

Yesterday it worked fun and was running at full capacity, but on that second go round, the pressure would only get up to 100lbs and no more.

I've tried checking for leaks, which it didn't have, checking for a clog, which it appeared to not have, unplugging it and re-plugging it, but it is still a "no go".

Is it possible that it is something internal? Or is it on it's last leg?

125 PSI air compressor

Please confirm if it will fill to 125 PSI when run from an empty tank, and then when you bleed off air to cut in, it only builds to 100 PSI thereafter... and every time?

What is the normal cut in pressure for this compressor?

When the pressure reaches the 100 PSI, does the compressor stop, or keep running and doesn't build any more pressure?
