Would like to put a 10 hp motor on an older Quincy 390

Information on an older Quincy 390.. Would like to put a 10 hp motor on it.

Looking to hook up a Quincy 390 pump to a single phase 10 hp motor. Is this a good combination/idea?

I have the motor and thinking of buying the pump and parts off craigslist. They have 2 setups $750 each. I am taking a chance on them, so I am only going to do it for $750 for both.

Is there something to look for/issues when I go look at them??? The guy bought them at a consignment sale and don't know anything about them.

Not much to say - it's a fairly complicated pump, lots to go go wrong, but at the same time reliable.

So aside from being frozen or cracked head and the like, it's a bit like buying a used car.

On the bright side, parts are available.

You should download the spec sheets for it, which have nice drawings of the innards, if you haven't already.

Your motor driving the pump at around 500 or 600 rpm should work well.

What pressure are looking to generate?

Good luck and fun.
