Wont do anything !!!

I just bought a used Campbell Ha. from a friend. He said it just quit working. He said the pressure switch might be bad.
So I unhooked the switch and wired the motor direct and still nothing.
Does it have a starter capacitor? and where can I find it. Its a 30gl single phase. Thanks Jason

Bill says...Jason, normally the start capacitor is on or beside the motor, often looks like a tube of metal about 1 1/2" diameter and a few inches long.
Don't know where else it could be on your compressor. Anyone else?
If you have power direct to the motor, and nothing's happening, I'm guessing it might actually be the motor that's pooched.
Unless the capacitor has completely shorted out (in which case I think you'd pop a fuse)I would think that the motor would try to start, at least.
Although, maybe the capacitor failure has cut the power to the motor completely.
In any case, the capacitor is the least expensive of the two, so do check that out first.
Cheers,
Bill
