Won't build pressure, one cylinder making noise.

Oil is good, tank has moisture drained. One cylinder making funny noise and getting hotter than the other. Takes a long time to build pressure.

Compressor gasket leaks
by: Bill

Sometimes a gasket leaks only when there is pressure present.

As to the valves, no one can check for you as we have no idea what the model number of your Kobalt is. Kobalt 30 gallon 1.6 twin cylinder isn't the model number.

Checked head gasket, No leaks. It's like the valves on one cylinder are not operating. Have not taken it apart yet! Does this model have Reed valves?, or valves like a gas engine?

Kobalt making noise
by: Bill

A good start would be to read the troubleshooting page on this site about air compressors that run and don't build pressure the way they used to for some things to check, David.

The noise thing could be mechanically related to that one cylinder, or it might be a gasket. I cannot look at a photo of the compressor as I have no idea of the model number.
