I have a WL660900AJ Husky air compressor manufactured in 2005 purchased new .

Used only around my house for minor jobs. I turned the unit on and nothing. I pulled the cover to check the wires and found nothing. I went a little further and pried the plastic cover off covering the fan, I found a wire broke coming from the electric motor. I replaced the connector.

But after prying the b4 mentioned plastic cover off, I could not put it back on. So I turned the unit on and it starting building up pressure. When the air built up to about 28lbs the unit stopped.

I turned the unit back on and saw sparks around the coil where the rotation contacts the ??? Lol sorry not sure what that's called.

I have attached a picture , in the picture you will see on the rt side of the fan the blue connector that I replaced .

That'd be the motor brushes, which pass electricity from the source to the armature (or rotor) windings.

There's a brush kit for that. About 25 bucks U.S.

The brushes contact the metal (copper color) commutator, which is where the motor windings connect. If that area is not too worn or badly pitted, you can clean it up with some emery cloth.

You might do well to remove and check the bushes before you order new: sometimes they just get crudded up and if you clean them up, they'll work.

Good luck and have fun...
