WL650800AJ over heats before reaching 100 psi

I have a model # WL650800AJ, 5 HP Iron Force Series compressor. It is overheating before it reaches 100 psi. It will get to about 80 psi then turn off. After a couple minutes it can be restarted. It will then reach 100 psi and then it overheats again. To use it I have to go through this overheat then restart cycle. I use it to blow out my sprinkler system which works once I reach about 100 psi in the tank. I run an extension cord to the compressor with the typical low cost orange extension cord about 35 ft long.

5 HP is a joke. That's at least 31Amps, and wouldn't last 10 seconds at that power. It probably draws that at startup for a second or so.

This is covered on other pages here, but the short answers are:
1, Get a heavier gauge extension.

2. Lose the extension, and get a longer air hose.

#2 is the better solution, and probably cheaper.
