Not knowing anything about your air compressor; make, model, HP, etc., or the condition it is in now, here's step one.

Unplug it and drain all the air from the tank. Maybe now would be a good time to test the PRV by using it to drain the system pressure.

Close PRV or compressor tank drain valve. Plug back in. Any change?
