Why does my Sanborn compressor shut down at 50 PSI?

My compressor is brand new. I wired it up and when I turn it on it runs for a few minutes and when it hits 50 lbs of pressure it shuts down.

A bit more info about the compressor would help, for example, model number, so I can do some checking for you.

However, assuming your power supply is good, and the compressor motor isn't shutting down due to thermal protection, and if the pressure switch is opening at 50 PSI cutting power to the motor, then I would surmise that your pressure switch settings are off, or the switch has failed.
