Why does my refrigerator's compressor gets too hot quickly following its starting?

Merkebu, I am not a refrigeration expert, by any means. However, if I was trying to resolve your refrigerator issue, I'd want to know how you know that your compressor is getting too hot?

Compressing refrigerant is like compressing air. The refrigerant/air molecules are crushed together, and as a result, heat is generated.

The compressor will have fins to dissipate the head, or some sort of heat sink, I should think. They do normally run hot (at least ours does) but again, how do you know yours is too hot?

Good luck,

Bill
