Hey George, aren't gas engines rated in HP just as electric ones are?

It seems to me that a 2 HP gas engine would do the trick.

I have a speedaire air compressor model 5Z0188. It's a 3 phase electrical unit and I want to know if their is a single phase 240v motor I can mount to take its place?

Howdy. You might want to talk to Speedaire directly.

From a mechanical standpoint, if the new motor fits the mounting points and has the power to drive the pump, then in theory, any voltage will work.

Once you start "carving" up the compressor if there is any warranty left on it, it's now gone, of course.
